Black-chinned Hummingbird - Archilochus alexanrdi

We spotted this beautiful little girl putting the finishing touches on her nest on the last day of our Texas trip last April in a public park just outside of San Antonio.

What a beauty. I figure you have to pay very careful attention to spot a hummer on her nest.

Great shot of a nice little Texas bird, Christopher! I'm impressed that you were able to spot her in the nest -- I can usually only find them either at the feeders or swarming around flowering bushes and vines. Wonderful capture!

If you were in San Antone in April, you timed it just right! Everything's green and the weather is (usually) pretty nice, and it's about a month before the summer heat really sets in. I hope you got to see some fields of Texas bluebonnets and other wildflowers while you were here.
